Melisa Meyler has broad litigation experience, with a current focus on resolving civil rights and intellectual property disputes and counseling clients with complex issues involving federal funding, local government law, and policy development.  She focuses her practice on the representation of governmental entities.

Prior to joining Thompson & Horton, Ms. Meyler was an attorney with Nixon Peabody LLP in New York.  In this position, she represented clients in complex commercial litigation, international and domestic arbitrations, and government investigations and maintained an active pro bono practice that included successfully negotiating a plea agreement as a Criminal Justice Act defense team member, counseling applicants for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals relief, and mentoring at-risk youth with the Center for Court Innovation.   

From 2009 to 2010 Ms. Meyler served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Ramon E. Reyes, Jr. in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. While in law school, Ms. Meyler clerked for the Office of the Solicitor General of Texas and chaired the NYU School of Law Moot Court Board.

Represented school district in termination proceedings related to integrity of student grades and state-mandated test results and related charge before U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission

Counseled colleges regarding financial aid awarded to potentially ineligible students and related Office of the Attorney General of Texas subpoenas

Secured $2.7 million federal jury verdict for propane distributor in complex contract and fraud dispute

Successfully represented licensor of brand, patents, and equipment to Brazilian entity before International Center for Dispute Resolution and achieved rare affirmation of interim arbitral award in federal court
