Today is the effective date of the new enforcement remedies of the recently enacted PUMP Act (Providing Urgent Maternal Protections for Nursing Mothers Act). The PUMP Act entitles all employees to “reasonable” break time in a location free from intrusion “each time such employee has need to express the milk” for one year after the birth of a child. Employers that fail to comply may be sued for damages.
