On December 2, 2021, Senate Bill 3 will replace House Bill 3979 as the law of the land in Texas. These so-called Critical Race Theory bills focus on how teachers talk about racism, history, and current issues in Texas public schools. SB3 contains similar provisions as HB 3979, such as the requirement that a teacher cannot be compelled to discuss a currently controversial issue or topic. SB 3 changes other provisions of HB 3979, such as those regarding instructional prohibitions, social studies curriculum requirements, and awarding students course credit. Despite the significant media coverage of these two bills, many school administrators and educators are confused and concerned about what the new law requires. In this webinar Oleg Nudelman and Ashley L. White discuss all the ins and outs of this new law.
