Ashley has devoted her legal career to representing educational institutions in a wide range of legal matters. Her passion for education extends globally from the United States to West Africa where she supports early childhood education at “The Kentucky Academy,” a school her parents established in Ghana for underserved children. Her appreciation for and keen understanding of secondary and post-secondary institutions translates into her zealous advocacy for all of her clients.

Ashley is an Associate in the Houston office. She counsels and represents public school districts, junior and community colleges, and universities on a broad range of practice areas, including state and federal litigation, labor and employment, special education law, student discipline matters, board governance, public and government law, and contracts and service agreements.

Prior to joining Thompson & Horton, Ashley served as the Assistant General Counsel for Cincinnati Public Schools – the largest school district in Cincinnati, OH. There, she advised on and litigated a wide range of practice areas, including special education, labor and employment, board governance, public records, open meetings, and data privacy. She advocated for the District before state and federal courts, as well as the Office of Civil Rights, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, and the State Employment Relations Board. Before her role at Cincinnati Public Schools, Ashley served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Office of the Ohio Attorney General in Columbus, OH where she represented public higher education institutions, as well as the Ohio Department of Education. Ashley has also served as an Adjunct Instructor for the University of Cincinnati where she taught school law to aspiring principals.
