Dena brings strong litigation defense experience and passion for education in her work at Thompson & Horton.

Dena is an associate in the Houston office of Thompson & Horton. She represents and counsels school districts, colleges, and universities on areas of education and employment law including grievances, employee investigations, ADA, EEOC, Title VII and Title IX claims. During law school, Dena clerked at a law firm that specialized in education law. This sparked her interest in the field after she assisted on several cases before the Illinois Human Rights Commission and cases involving complaints of discrimination. Before joining Thompson & Horton, Dena represented major insurance companies and employers in workers’ compensation claims before the Department of Labor. She strategized and defended clients in a variety of complex liability disputes, including the involvement of multiple employers and insurance carriers. Dena’s hands-on experience with complex legal issues is integral in protecting her clients and maintaining the integrity of education. Understanding the unique human aspect in this field and being able to tailor her approach to every case makes her a vital asset to her clients. Dena is dedicated to giving back to the community and serves as a mentor to a high school student in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America program.
